Thursday 9 February

Sea day today so had a leisurely breakfast followed by the morning quiz.

The theme was 'Great' and the questions suited us well - much better than last night's which was on the theme of booze. We realised we clearly don't drink enough! Anyway, we won this morning's quiz and were given 2 golden stickers which we will be able to exchange for a desirable? gift at the end of the cruise.

We then went to a talk by Rob Bayly - a former BBC producer who worked on such programmes as ‘Tomorrow's World’ and ‘Antiques Roadshow’. This was followed by an excellent lunch in the main dining room. It was a rather breezy day, so we opted out of our walk round the promenade deck opting to read instead.

Can you see the ship?

We sensed that we were travelling more quickly than usual and with the strong wind we started to feel the motion on the ship. We toyed with not having dinner but then decided we would. We then found out that the captain had been getting a spurt on as we had a very sick passenger on board and they were rushing to get him/her to shore asap. We ended up docking nearly 12 hours early meaning that on board shops and the casino had to close.

Epilogue

None of the following are complaints, but rather observations based on our experiences of cruising in general and with P&O in particular...
